About the Delete PDF pages tool
Documents accumulate pages nobody needs. A scanner adds a blank sheet every time it catches two pages at once. Downloaded reports open with a cover, a legal notice and a table of contents before anything useful starts. Bank statements append pages of small print. Forms arrive with instruction pages you have already read. None of it is harmful, but it makes the document longer to send, slower to read and more expensive to print.
Removing pages is also a privacy measure, and often the more important one. When someone asks for proof of a single transaction, sending a full statement hands over every other transaction you made that month as well. Trimming a document to the pages that answer the question is the simplest way to avoid over-sharing, and it takes seconds compared with the effort of explaining later why unrelated information was disclosed.
The pages that remain are copied across untouched. Nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed, so text stays selectable and searchable, images keep their original resolution, and the document behaves exactly as it did before, only shorter. What does change is the numbering: page 20 becomes page 15 once five pages before it are gone, though any numbers printed onto the pages themselves stay as they were, because they are part of the page image rather than a property of the file.
Work from a copy, or at least keep the original. Deleting pages produces a new file and leaves your source document alone, which means the pages are recoverable as long as you still have it. Once you have discarded the original there is no undo — the removed content is genuinely gone from the trimmed file rather than hidden, which is exactly what you want for privacy and exactly what makes it unrecoverable.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I specify which pages to delete?
- Enter numbers separated by commas for individual pages, and hyphens for ranges — 1, 3, 8-12 removes page one, page three, and pages eight through twelve. Counting starts at one from the first page of the file, which may not match the number printed on the page if the document has a cover or roman-numeraled front matter.
- Is the deleted content really gone?
- From the new file, yes — the pages are omitted when the document is rebuilt rather than hidden or covered over, so there is nothing left to recover from the output. Your original file still has everything, which is your safety net. If the point was to remove sensitive pages before sharing, send the trimmed copy and keep the original for yourself.
- Can I undo it?
- Not within the tool, because the trimmed file is a new document rather than an edit to the old one. The original PDF is never modified, so recovering a page means going back to that file and extracting again. This is the reason the tool refuses to delete every page — a document with nothing in it is never what someone meant to create.
- Do the page numbers get renumbered?
- The document positions do — the page after a deletion moves up. Numbers printed on the page itself do not, because they were drawn into the page content when the PDF was created and are not a property the file tracks. A trimmed document can therefore show a gap in its printed numbering, which is normal and unavoidable without regenerating the source.
- Does removing pages shrink the file?
- Usually yes, roughly in proportion to what the removed pages contained. The saving can be smaller than expected if the remaining pages reference the same embedded fonts or shared images, since those still have to be included. Deleting text-only pages from an image-heavy scan will barely move the size at all.
- Are my documents uploaded to a server?
- No. The PDF is parsed and the trimmed version assembled inside your browser tab, so the file never crosses the network. That is the point on a tool like this — the pages people remove are typically the confidential ones, and routing them through someone else's server to delete them would be self-defeating.
- Can I delete pages from a protected PDF?
- Not while it is encrypted, because the contents cannot be read without the password. Open the document in your usual reader, save an unprotected copy, and trim that instead. PDFs that merely restrict editing or printing rather than opening will normally work directly.
